Hey, That's Me! / Beauties Pageant 106

A few months ago, I shared my thoughts on selling at FeelGood Fibers, a secondhand fabric marketplace and online community with a heart for sustainability. I’m six months into pruning my stash and selling the unwanted, unused fabric from it—and I’ve made over $500 in sales!

Kim and Tom Soper, the fabric-loving brains behind FGF, asked me to do a fun little interview about my experience, which went live just this week. To read what I have to say about destashing, how I’ve increased my sales, and what I’ve done with the proceeds, read the seller spotlight now.

We’re in the home stretch of 2020, and I am selling lot after lot of my preowned fabric and finishing project after project on my to-do list. Wow, it feels good to accomplish something quilting related during this weird Covid time when it feels as if I haven’t accomplished much else.

What do you have to say about all of this? Share your finishes in the linky below and your experience destashing in the comments. : )

  1. Congratulations! It's a fun way to destash. My experience destashing is... well, using the fabric into quilts ;))

  2. I love the whole idea of FGF and think Kim has done an incredible thing getting this started. Her philosophy is really wonderful. Sounds like it has worked really well for you - good job decluttering Michelle!

  3. My de-stash is on a slow burn. It does feel great every time I sell fabric that no longer sparks my creativity but has got someone else excited enough to buy! I'm trying to make wiser purchases - pre-cut packs are my downfall as I fall for them then can never figure out how to use them!

  5. Cool to be in the spotlight! I have been on a 10 year quilting hiatus. Since returning to quilting, I am all about stashing. I will check out this site!

  7. I wish the hashtags would come back on IG. Very annoying. Your spotlight post was good - makes me want to get in gear and get some listings up. Maybe Monday...

  8. Thanks for the heads up on Feel Good Fibers. I've used a different group but it might be nice to try something else. Although some folks haven't done much during this odd time, I think quilters have gone crazy with getting projects done. Several guilds I belong to have turned over an incredible number of quilts to worthy causes. I'm always happy to finish projects and most of mine eventually go on to others who need them.

  10. I've seen your smiling face on Instagram, over and over again! :-) It's wonderful that they featured you, and that you've been able to destash and make money at this. Not all of us have such an abundant stash, nor want to part with what we do have. But it's sure interesting to see others participate in that activity. After such a purge, no doubt you're feeling good about the state of your sewing room. Enjoy it!
