Sew-Along Starts Monday / Beauties Pageant 22

Me at QuiltCon last week, toting my Cargo Duffle Bag.

Dear quilty readers with aspirations of sewing three-dimensional objects ... This upcoming Monday, March 4 is the day. We are going to march forth and conquer our fear of zippers. We are going to march forth and install snaps. We are going to march forth and make pockets and edge-stitch like pros and sew with half-inch seams, all in an effort to create something both beautiful and useful.

If this is news to you, the high-level information you need to know is this:
  • We’re making Noodlehead’s Cargo Duffle Bag.
  • The pattern is free and available on the Robert Kaufman site.
  • It’s doable if you’re confident in your piecing and quilting skills (i.e., not a beginner).
  • It calls for quilting cotton. (I suspect you have a lot of that.)
  • It also requires canvas, interfacing, and hardware that are easily found at big-box craft stores.
The full schedule, including my thoughts on the required supplies, can be found here.

February kicked my butt. Did I finish my Gypsy Wife blocks? Yes, but with, like, three hours to spare. Did I finish piecing my stringy, scrappy quilt top? Not. Even. Close. If February was kind to you and you have a finish to share, I invite you to enter this week’s Beauties Pageant ...

The pageant rules are simple:
  • Post your finish in the linky tool. (No links to your own giveaway or linky, please!)
  • Point your readers back here with a text link or use the button above.
  • Visit and comment on other participants’ finishes.

  5. Because of QuiltCon, I always think of February as a freebie month that should be free of guilt. Any projects or goals finished at all are a win.

    1. I'm starting to understand that piecing the sections is going to be unpleasant. I haven't even decided on my background fabrics. ACK!
